The DOCU REGIO subgroup was relaunched in 2016 and is a platform for film funders. Topics for discussion include knowledge-sharing between film funds from the perspective of regional film funds; such as taking a new look on the networking opportunities and identify some of the challenges the CineRegio members experience in their regions regarding documentaries. The subgroup is headed up by Zürcher Filmstiftung, Switzerland and Film i Skåne, Sweden.
In 2007, twelve European film funds initiated the documentary pitching forum, DOCU REGIO. From 2008-2011 DOCU REGIO was an interregional pitching forum. Since 2012 it is a french-based event. The concept of DOCU REGIO is to allow 15 regional producers to present their (best) documentary project before an audience of ten program directors of major chains. A special place will be reserved for young filmmakers (first or second documentary). Each partner region will present two projects including one from a young director.
