Copenhagen Film Fund
Copenhagen and its surrounding area have everything that is needed to become a European film capital; a beautiful and diverse setting, a film business with world class technicians and facilities, a strong infrastructure, a high level of service, and right now some of the best directors, screenwriters and directors of photography in the world. All this needs to be made use of.
For this reason, the Copenhagen Film Fund was founded in 2013, as a result of an initiative from the Producers Association and a collaboration between what were then eight Copenhagen municipalities, the Capital Region, and a number of actors working in the film business. The Fund has a budget of 35 million DKK, extending to 2016.
The Copenhagen Film Fund’s focal point is not just the Copenhagen area, but the whole Capital Region, and more municipalities are signing up. The Fund’s prime purpose is to invest in international and Danish film and TV productions, to be produced in our member municipalities, and distributed both nationally and internationally.
Our money is allotted as investment capital. It is our task to create growth and jobs in the film business and its ancillary businesses, with the obvious and commendable benefit of promoting Copenhagen and Danish Film Production in the rest of the world.
We invest primarily in international productions of high artistic merit with Danish co-producers, but Danish projects with international distribution in place can also qualify. Our focus is on productions shot within the region.
Cine-Regio representative Mr. Thomas Gammeltoft
In August 2013 Thomas Gammeltoft was appointed CEO of the newly founded Copenhagen Film Fund.
In 2011 Thomas Gammeltoft, together with the company, Eyeworks Denmark, entered into a new production company, Eyeworks Fine & Mellow, with a focus on international collaborations and productions.
Earlier on, in 2001, Thomas Gammeltoft along with Hella Joof and Jannik Johansen started the company Fine & Mellow together with Nordisk Film Distribution. The company produced a series of successful films and also participated as a co-producer on several Nordic films. Starting in 2008, Thomas Gammeltoft and Nordisk Film Distribution Fine and Mellow continued the company on their own, producing feature films.
From 1986 – 2001 Thomas Gammeltoft was hired by the film collective, Film & Lyd ApS and became a co-owner in 1987. By the end of the 80’s, the company grew, with the advent of TV2, to become one of the largest producers of documentaries in Denmark. In 1998 the company merged with Angel Film.
Thomas Gammeltoft was a member of the Board of Directors of The Danish Film Academy from 1992–94, and a member of the Producer Association’s feature film selection committee from 2009 – 2012.
